 Why is TCS planning to bring back employees back to office? WFH is more productive and more suitable especially for us females

We need to realise that the work form model was only put as a temporary measure in order to maintain the well-being of the employees during the Covid-19 pandemic. This was done keeping employees’ health in mind and the government regulations, not their comfort. So it was natural that once the situation normalizes, these companies will be calling back their employees.

The second wave of the pandemic has subsided quite a few months back. Even though the cases are not completely zero, but the situation is comparatively under control right now. A third wave is predicted and therefore these offices are not immediately reopening. TCS, for instance, has shared that they will observe the third wave of the pandemic and based on it, they will be calling back the employees at the end of this year or starting next year. Wipro, on the other hand, has already called back 55% of its employees to physical work locations. Soon many will follow.

Not everyone will be called at once; it will be done in a phased manner for sure but sooner or later, everyone will be called to the office unless of course, you are lucky enough to work with a company that has declared permanent work from home. While there is still time, if you loathe the concept of going to a physical workplace, try interviewing at companies that have offered permanent work from home!
