What made you sad today (India)?

What made you sad today answer is simple read below article

Might be a silly thing to feel “sad” about it but as a guy who grew up watching Indian cricket, today is an emotional day for me and many of us who have been following Indian cricket closely. Kohli took the reins of T20 captaincy from MS Dhoni in 2017 and after four years, he decided to step down from captaining the side in the shortest format of the game.

Kohli stated that the reason he was stepping down was to give himself space to be fully ready to captain the Test and ODI side. That kinda gives an assurance that he is not looking forward to stepping down from captaining the other two formats. But yeah, like most other cricketing nations, India is going to have different captains for different formats of the game. He will, however, continue to captain the side in the upcoming T20 World Cup scheduled in October.

As a person who has been fanboying Kohli, it is a sad moment for me to him stepping down from captaincy but I do understand that it is for the greater good. While India has been performing well under his captaincy, we have not won any major ICC tournament since 2013 and the drought needs to be ended. Plus, Kohli’s captaincy in the limited-overs cricket has raised questions quite a few times and we have seen instances when he is out of the ground or not playing a series, Rohit Sharma captains the side well and has a better track record too.

It has not yet been announced who will be the new captain but most likely, Rohit Sharma will take over the captaincy. However, if India is looking for a long-term captain, then the likes of Rishabh Pant can be an option. Hopefully, this will allow Kohli to focus more on his batting and we will witness more fireworks from him! After all, everything is well if India continues to win matches. That’s more important than who’s captaining the side.
