Cognizant hires engineering freshers in two profiles. One is the regular profile for which they recruit in bulk named as GenC and the other is for Research and Development called GenC Next.

For their GenC profile, the starting salary for engineering freshers is Rs 4.5 lakh per annum. This is also the highest among service-based IT companies in India currently. For the R&D profile, the starting salary is Rs 6.75 LPA; the selection criteria for this role is comparatively tougher. Locations for both the profiles can be anywhere in India.

The above salaries are for engineering roles, however. Cognizant does hire professionals for other roles as well such as BPO, HR etc where the salary structure differs.
