Has TCS started calling employees back to the office?
Nope, not yet but they are planning to very soon. The CEO of TCS, Rajesh Gopinathan announced that they are looking to call back 70 to 80% of the employees by the end of this year to the offices or latest by early 2022, but that depends on how severe the third wave of the Covid-19 pandemic turns out to be in India.
As of now, 99% of the workforce is working from home. The practise started in March 2020 when everything began to shut down. TCS has now claimed that the Covid-19 pandemic is almost under control right now in the country and fewer cases are reported daily and if the third wave doesn’t cause much havoc, then according to the arrangements made, the employees will gradually be required to report back to their physical office locations by end of 2021 or starting of 2022.
No IT company has started to call their employees except Wipro which has called back 55% of its workforce to physical offices. Gradually, other companies will follow the same path and it looks to be the end of work from home for the employees.
