Best interview expireance

What’s the weirdest interview question you’ve ever had?

A few days back, I had shared about my interview as a fresher at Infosys which was apparently my shortest job interview that led to a job offer. I still remember that day as if it was just yesterday even though it has been over three years now, probably because I was very relaxed on the day of the interview. It was probably the 25th or 26th of August 2018 and for my last round of interview process at Infosys, we were called at BP Poddar Engineering college for the technical round.

Around 500–600 people interviewed for the

fresher roles and 27 of us got shortlisted for the final round. My interview lasted for just 15 minutes within which I gave a two or three-minute-long introduction of myself. Anyway, so the interview was going smooth, the ball was in my court because the interviewer was asking about my academic projects and I was confident about them. I remember his very last question: “Do you know what is a Daemon Thread?”

As I was about to answer it, the interviewer said, “No fine, that’s okay. I don’t expect you to know it. It is an advanced concept.” Well, honestly, it wasn’t anything advanced. It has a one-line answer and I knew it. I still wanted to tell the answer in case this was a decider question about my selection. I told him that I knew the answer and he said, “No that’s okay. I didn’t mean to ask the question.” I still insisted and had started answering it even but he cut me short and gave a smile and showed me his hand as to indicate, ‘It is okay!’

He thanked me for my time and asked me to wait outside. That was the final question and was also the weirdest thing I ever encountered at an interview. The interviewer asked a question, withdrew it and when I tried to answer it, he didn't let me answer. Anyway, that probably didn’t affect the outcome of the interview thankfully. After two months, I received an offer letter from Infosys, asking me to join them at their Mysore campus!
